The number of studies linking dementia and particularly Alzheimer's disease with HSV-1 is increasing every year. A review from 2014 already described the link as more than hypothetical. Current research points to a suspected causal role as well as to possible impact on treatment.

To support research on this link, we developed the PEPperCHIP^® Herpes-Simplex-Virus 1 Proteome Microarray, covering all 74 HSV-1 proteins converted into 19,408 different peptides with our new cLIFT technology. The microarray can be used for proteome-wide epitope mapping of anti-HSV-1 antibody responses, serum antibody profiling, or biomarker discovery.
